The good folks at Lincoln Arts Project and the town of Waltham, MA got together to help make it possible for me to paint a massive new mural right on the tracks in downtown Waltham. This one was approximately 200 ft long and 20 ft tall and took a few weeks over the months of September and October 2013.
I was interested in playing with the idea of motion in this piece, as the majority of the viewers would be seeing this passing by on the train. I used a time-lapse photograph of a city street at night as my inspiration for color and composition, but as usual… let my paint find its own way to the end result. I am calling it “A Time in Place”.
Below are some awesome shots from local photographer Jim Walker, who was there to document the process, followed by some shots of the completed mural.
Thanks again to LAP Gallery and the town of Waltham for the opportunity!
